One of the world’s most talked-about pizza names is landing in Hong Kong. Vincenzo Capuano, the Naples-born, third-generation pizzaiolo and 2022 World Modern Pizza champion, is opening his first Hong Kong outpost, and we couldn’t be more excited. Known for his ultra-light, high-hydration dough fermented for 36+ hours, producing the signature Nuvola crust, Capuano’s pizza strikes the perfect balance between classic Neapolitan tradition and modern creativity. Set to bring serious heat (and probably queues!) to Wan Chai, you’ll see us queuing up daily!

Whilst not technically a new opening, this full-circle moment definitely feels like a new chapter for Little Bao, one of Hong Kong’s most iconic homegrown brands. After eight years operating across both Central and Causeway Bay, the brand is consolidating into a single location from Sunday, 17 May at Shin Hing Street — a.k.a where it all began. To celebrate, don’t miss its one-night-only “Baodown” on Tuesday, 19 May with Chef Gavin Chin of House of Culture, plus a lineup of collaborations and cultural programmes rolling through the summer.

At Team Sassy, we try our fair share of meals, so seriously impressing the team is a feat reserved for the greatest — and we can confirm that UURO has just made the list. Its highlight undoubtedly is the bagels, creating a comforting and mood-lifting aroma from the minute you enter its nearly 10,000sqft sprawling space. The flavours are carb-lover coded, with cheese & jalapeño and spring onion among our highlights. Its range of cream cheeses (from nduja to yuzu to its house special) is also ideal for building your ideal bite. Cooked plates are equally fantastic, flavourful and fabulous. If our office were closer, we would be here every day! So for the lucky ones who live in the area, go for a gorgeous meal (and soak up the genuinely lovely service) and take home a bagel (or three!).
Must-try Dishes: Spanish Iberico Ham & Cheese Bagel, Braised Beef Cheek Gnocchi
Opening Hours: 11am to 11pm
Address: UURO, B1/F, Causeway Bay Plaza 2, 463-483 Lockhart Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, 3547 2131
Happy Samurai is easy to walk straight past and that’s part of the appeal of this hole-in-the-wall eatery. Tucked behind an unassuming doorway just off the Wellington Street market stalls, this small ramen shop in Central serves bowls built on a broth that’s been in Chef Kouji’s family for over 80 years. His mother’s family still runs the original ramen shop just outside Sapporo, and that four-generation recipe is exactly what ends up in your bowl. What’s also incredible is that every broth on the menu is plant-based. The tonkotsu ramen is rich and creamy, the tantan ramen packs a satisfying heat and the shoyu ramen is deeply savoury with umami flavours, but also differing from what you expect from a ‘traditional’ version.
Must-try Dishes: Spicy Tantan Ramen ($138)
Opening Hours: Monday to Saturday, 11:30am to 11pm; Sunday closed
